A deep-dive into tabla solo improvisation with the drummer – focused on one main goal: how to communicate with the drummer on stage.

Content:
– 16 hours of tabla solo improvisation classes with drummer (with daily 1:1 improvisation for each participant)
– 2 hours of acting theatrical games to help you feel confident, playful and charismatic on the stage.
– Relaxing sound baths and rituals by Maestro Mousa

For 4 days (16 hours total), you will not just practice patterns – you will build a musical conversation: listening, answering, leading, supporting, and having fun together in real time.

Each participant’s goal is to improvise with the drummer at least once each day!

  1. Musical entrance
  • How to start your solo with clarity and confidence
  • Setting the groove and energy from the very first stroke
  1. Rhythms, speed & dynamics
  • Recognizing rhythms and choosing movements to them 
  • Speeding up and slowing down together without getting lost
  • Dynamic control – from whisper to explosion
  • Building tension and release with the drummer
  1. Phrases
  • Creating clear, memorable phrases for the drummers music and for the drummer to follow
  1. Shimmies
  • Setting up shimmy section in your performance
  • Navigating through different shimmies 
  1. Layering 
  • Layering patterns to handle the most challenging but powerful moments of your show
  1. Stage games & playful interaction
  • Interactive and funny games with the drummer
  • “Surprise” breaks, stops, and cues that work on stage
  • How to keep the audience engaged through rhythm play
  1. Clear, powerful endings
  • Different types of endings 
  • How to signal the drummer and finish together
  • Ending with confidence – no confusion, no fade-out
  1. Full dance improvisation for each participant by the end of the course!

Acting & theatrical games (2 hours)

  • Fun theatre exercises that are the hit from the very first edition of Raks N Roll 
  • Overcoming fear of doing funny, playful things on stage
  • Expressing emotions and character through movement 
  • Building stage presence and self-confidence in a safe, supportive space

 

Sound baths & deep relaxation guided by Mousa

  • Gentle sound baths to relax the body and nervous system
  • Letting go of tension after intense practice
  • Creating a calm, centered state that supports improvisation and creativity

 

Cracow experience 

  • Sightseeing in Kazimierz – the historic Jewish district with its unique atmosphere
  • Sightseeing in the Main Market Square – the biggest medieval square of Europe
  • Free evenings to hang out together – music jams, conversations, food, or just relaxing together in the city

Format

  • 4 days of training in Cracow
  • 16 hours of tabla & drummer practice (4 hours per day)
